Soi Rambuttri, Bangkok.

Parallel to Khao San runs Soi Rambuttri, being located so close, it’s like stepping in a different world. Soi Rambuttri is more like how Bangkok used to look before the high-rise landscape of the capital was formed.Leafy banyan trees shade the pavements and the vibe sways more towards local visitors than backpacker, despite a number of them now choosing to stay here rather than on the famous Khao San.

Being more attractive and laid-back then popular Khao San road, Rambuttri is a horse-shoe shaped street, where you can stroll more relaxed and it will take you around 25 minutes to walk along. In the soi you’ll find lovely restaurants, food stalls some guesthouses and bars. Although small tourist shops selling DVD’s, T-shirts and more it’s not as chaotic as on Khao San.

The Soi is located around the Wat Chana Songkhram temple and down they alleyways you can peak into the monk’s living quarters. To complete the tour through the street you need to pass by a what it appears a dead end, but you can continue through the second floor of the restaurant.

At night the street with it’s many bars come alive and have a less commercial look than the backpacker street.
