Hua Hin railway station.

Hua Hin’s railway station was built during the period of King Rama VI and located near the center from the town. The wooden buildings and Royal waiting room are in Thai-style but  visitors can’t denying to see a flinch of Victorian architecture in it.

The historic railway station made Hua Hin accessible by land from Bangkok, rather then taking the trip by boat, and the tranquility of the town in combination with the railway, made it a Royal destination.

With the train station in place in 1921 and the northern-southern rail line connecting Bangkok to Singapore the town of Hua Hin was built around it. European expatriates would travel from Penang and Singapore to enjoy a seaside vacation in Hua Hin.

By 1926, Hua Hin had become a popular seaside town, complete with the train station, luxury hotel, two royal palaces and a nine-hole golf course (laid out in 1921).

These days, the Hua Hin train station stays a much visited tourist attraction and and many foreign tourists decide to leave the busses from Bangkok behind and go travel to Hua Hin by train, just for the fantastic journey and the delightful station. The journey by train takes 4 hours, compared with the trip of 2,5 hours by car, but it’s well worth.
